Gaza humanitarian aid leaving Larnaca port this afternoon

Relevant News

Cyprus will ‘Open Arms’ to Gaza this afternoon, as the Spanish-flagged vessel carrying 150 tonnes of urgently needed humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclaved, mostly food, will be sailing from Larnaca port this afternoon, according to the latest reports.

The exact time of departure will not be made public for security reasons.

‘Our vision of Cyprus is a modern, European country that is considered a credible international partner and a pillar of stability in the region’ government spokesman Constandinos Letympiotis said on platform X, as the Amaltheia maritime corridor initiative unfolds.

Letympiotis noted that positive international press over the past few days, places Cyprus at the forefront, ‘a forefront of initiatives and leadership in efforts to allievate an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in our neighbourhood’.

According to Cyprus News Agency sources, the ship is set to sail late in the afternoon, following an Israeli green light and once all security conditions are in place.

The aid has been loaded onto the ‘MMS ARIS’ floating platform, as the Gaza coast has no port infrastructure.
