Driver in Akrotiri fatal traffic collision was not wearing seatbelt – SBA Police

The British Bases Police are continuing their inquiry into a traffic collision, in which 42-year-old taxi driver Christos Gregoriou died yesterday afternoon.

Gregoriou died in front of his 18-year-old son, who was also in the car at the time of the crash.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the 42-year-old was not wearing his seatbelt when the accident happened.

Authorities confirmed that Grigoriou suffered fatal head and chest injuries due to the collision.

Additionally, samples have been collected for toxicological analysis to further understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The collision on the Akrotiri-Kolossi road involved the victim’s car and another vehicle, driven by a British national who had his 5-year-old child, safely secured in a child seat, as a passenger. They escaped with minor injuries.
