A man died in a traffic collision in Akrotiri on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, the collision took place at approximately 2:05 p.m. on the Kolossi-Akrotiri road inside SBA territory.
The collision involved the victim’s car and another vehicle, driven by a British national who had his 5-year-old child, safely secured in a child seat, as a passenger.
The man’s vehicle, for reasons yet to be determined, reportedly veered into the opposite lane in an attempt to overtake a vehicle in front of him, leading to the fatal collision.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
The victim’s 18-year-old son, who was a passenger in the car, did not suffer serious injuries.
Specialist collision scene examiners have been deployed to the site, while SBA authorities are urging drivers who were in the vicinity at the time to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation.
