With health problems plaguing him, 82-year-old grandfather Chrysanthos had to be hospitalised once again at Limassol Hospital, putting Limassol Police Headquarters on alert.

The sudden indisposition he felt on Friday night while in his cell at the Limassol CID prompted police action, which immediately transferred the 82-year-old to the hospital.

After being examined by doctors, it was deemed necessary for him to be kept under observation for at least 24 hours.

According to information from Phileleftheros, a holter monitor (a device for measuring heart rate) has been placed on the 82-year-old, while his children, concerned about his health, are by his side.

The 82-year-old remains in the Pathology Department.

On the other hand, the family of the 82-year-old is in a waiting position until the appeal process is completed.

The case of the 82-year-old has now been transferred to the appellate court after his lawyers, Maria Neofytou and Antonis Antoniou, filed an appeal.

Last Thursday, the first appearance was scheduled, and on behalf of the Prosecution, Deputy Attorney-General Savvas Angelides appeared.

The latter stated in court that the sentence imposed on the accused is not overtly excessive, noting, however, that the sentence should have been suspended, and the Legal Service does not object to a suspended sentence.
