82-year-old under observation at Limassol hospital

Relevant News

82-year-old grandfather Chrysanthos has been hospitalised at Limassol General Hospital and in the Pathology Department since last night. Philenews reports that, after experiencing intense discomfort, the medical team deemed it necessary to transfer the 82-year-old to Limassol General Hospital.

After being examined by doctors, they judged that he should be kept under observation for at least 24 hours.

Philenews states that a holter monitor (a device for measuring heart rate) has been placed on the 82-year-old. His children are by his side, worrying about his health.

The case of the 82-year-old has now been transferred to the appellate judicial body after his lawyers, Maria Neofytou and Antonis Antoniou, appealed.

Last Thursday, the initial appearance was scheduled, and on behalf of the Prosecution, Assistant Prosecutor Savvas Angelidis appeared.

He stated in court that the penalty imposed on the accused is not overtly excessive, noting, however, that the penalty should have been suspended, and the Legal Service does not object to a suspended sentence.

Mr Angelidis further mentioned that the suspension of the penalty for the 82-year-old convicted man is justified, taking into account the serious health problems he faces.

The appellate court summoned the defence lawyer of the 82-year-old, Maria Neofytou, to present the suspension chart.

It should be noted that, in light of the Assistant Prosecutor’s statement, the defence lawyer of the 82-year-old withdrew the initial appeal regarding the amount of the imposed penalty and maintained the second one concerning the request for the penalty’s suspension. Additionally, it was noted that the personal circumstances of the 82-year-old, his age, and health problems were not taken into account.

The appellate court scheduled the case for next week for pleadings from the defence of the 82-year-old.
