An explosion occurred last night in Athienou due to a gas leak.
As stated by the spokesperson of the Fire Service, Andreas Kettis, at 21:00, there appears to have been a gas leak from a cylinder located in a gas heater inside a bedroom on the first floor of a two-story house in Athienou.
The explosion caused extensive damage to the bedroom, furniture, and equipment, while one person who was inside the bedroom was injured and transported by ambulance to the Emergency Department of Larnaca Hospital.
The circumstances under which the explosion occurred will be investigated by the Police in collaboration with the competent State Service (Electromechanical Service).
