No more victims from the fifth floor

Relevant News

Yesterday’s tragedy in Limassol, where a young man from Bangladesh fell to his death from the fifth floor at the sight of police in the apartment where he was cramped with his compatriots, should give authorities pause for thought.

Human life is worth much more than the arrest of an illegal immigrant.

This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred, resulting in the loss of lives during police raids. Let us recall the tragic case of Oxana Radeva, who fell from the fifth floor and died as she tried to escape the apartment where she was being held, after having been turned away by the police. Our country was condemned for that case.

The Aliens and Immigration Service and the Police, in general, need to find alternative ways to detect irregular immigrants instead of raiding apartments, where individuals, in an attempt to escape, resort to desperate acts without considering the consequences.

No more victims from the fifth floor.
