Two children aged 12 and three were rescued by neighbours after a fire broke out in their home in the Ayios Ioannis neighbourhood Limassol at around 5 pm on Monday afternoon, philenews reported.
The children — a girl and a boy — were home alone.
Neighbours who saw the fire assisted by passers-by were able to enter the house and bring the children to safety.
They were taken to hospital where they will remain as a matter of precaution. They are in good health.
Police are investigating why the children were alone. The parents, both non-Cypriots, are aged 33 and 31.
Fire fighters responded with two fire trucks and the blaze was quickly extinguished although the house sustained considerable damage.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
