Police fine 156 in 24 hours for covid measures breach, Limassol gets most of them

Police in Cyprus issued 156 fines over the past 24 hours for violation of measures aiming to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Most of the fines were again issued in Limassol where the highest number of new covid-19 cases are recorded over the past couple of weeks.

All in all, police carried 12,288 inspections all across Cyprus.

In the capital of Nicosia, out of 2,426 inspections nine individuals were fined.

In Limassol, the second biggest city, out of 2,703 inspections 88 individuals and one establishment were fined.

In Larnaca, 2,235 inspections led to 26 individuals getting fines while in Paphos 11 individuals were fined after 1,854 inspections.

Police also carried out 1,318 inspections in Famagusta and fined 17 individuals, while in Morphou 1,179 inspections led to four individuals getting fines.

In addition, Marine and Port police carried out 69 inspections and booked no one.
