Relevant News

The Presidential Palace said on Monday that room capacity for quarantine of those repatriated from abroad is now 2,000 for 14 days after 1,000 more rooms were secured by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.

According to an official announcement, the gradual and controlled repatriation programme of the Foreign Ministry stipulates that applicants via the connect2cy platform must be one of the following:

  • Individuals (students and otherwise) belonging to vulnerable groups
  • Students in dormitories and who are registered for the current academic year in foundation courses or are in their first year of undergraduate studies
  • Other beneficiaries (Cypriot citizens, students or otherwise, permanently residing in the Republic of Cyprus based on the Vienna Convention), as per the time period they declared an interest for via the repatriation platform

In addition, those repatriated will be subjected upon arrival to a test and then taken to hotels for a 14 day quarantine.

The repatriations will be executed by the Ministry of Transport by charter flights.

The cost of the repatriation will be borne by citizens themselves, it was clarified, except in the cases where the flight is donated by air carriers or other entities and in the cases concerning individuals flown abroad by the Republic for medical reasons.

The quarantine costs will be covered by the state, and the quarantine areas will be monitored by staff of the Defence Ministry.
