Young prodigy Anna Avramidou dazzles London with piano performance

The Cyprus House in London played host to a musical evening last Wednesday, as Anna Avramidou, a young pianist studying at the Purcell School for Young Musicians, captivated the audience with her talent.

The event, organised by the Cyprus High Commission, celebrated not only Anna’s accomplishments but also offered a platform to showcase the richness of contemporary Cypriot culture to various communities in London.

Born in Cyprus, Anna Avramidou has already made a significant mark in the music world. Under the tutelage of Tessa Nicholson, Anna’s dedication and passion for music have led her to incredible heights.

Among Anna’s notable achievements is winning the Grand Prize at the 6th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Weimar, Germany.

Her performance not only secured her the first prize in Category II but also earned her the title of Young Talent of the Year.

The High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to the UK, Andreas Kakouris, presented Anna with a commemorative plaque during the concert, acknowledging her outstanding achievements and her commendable representation of the Republic of Cyprus on an international level.

The event attracted members from various British communities, who came together to witness the wealth of contemporary Cypriot culture through Anna’s performance.

From the expressive depths of Chopin’s Ballade No. 1 to the fiery Tarantella by Liszt, Anna’s performance left the audience spellbound.
