‘Varosha, a European Fenced-off City’ is a documentary that aims to raise awareness internationally about the status quo that has prevailed for 50 years in the fenced-off city of Varosha.
It also serves to remind everyone that Varosha, once a significant Mediterranean resort with a strong cultural character in 1974, has been transformed into a prohibited area for European citizens within European territory.
Featuring interviews with prominent figures, the documentary highlights the untold story of the fenced-off city of Varosha.
Aimed at accurate and scientific documentation of undeniable events, the documentary seeks to thoroughly inform the international community.
Its goal is to draw the attention of international organisations, contributing to the revelation of truth and proper decision-making processes.
The concept and production are initiatives of Mr. Tonis Toumazis in collaboration with the “Varosha Initiative” team and Green Olive Productions.
The first screening of “Varosha, European Fenced-off City” took place in August 2023 by RIK, and for the current year, further strategic collaborations with foreign television channels are being studied.
As the documentary prepares to travel to the rest of the world, it will be screened on April 8, 2024, at an event organised by MEP Mr. Loukas Fourlas in Brussels.
