A day dedicated to museums around the world, as part of the exhibition “1940: Faces & Images: Cyprus – Greece” at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation
Demetris Vattis and Natasa Georgiou will guide us in a tour of the photographic exhibition “The war’s forgotten” on Saturday, 18 May 2019 (12pm to 3pm) at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation.
The thematic tour takes place in the context of the International Museum Day, is under the auspices of the Department of Antiquities.
On display at the exhibition are 24 unique photographs from the collection of renowned photographer Demetris Vattis, depicting Cypriot veterans of World War II. The photographer had the idea of capturing the veterans at the dawn of their lives, more than 75 years after the end of a war that plunged the world into carnage and forever marked these people’s lives.
The veterans were photographed in their homes, going about their daily routines, in their old age, rundown by the years, yet still proud of having taken part in the struggle against fascism.
Entrance is free
