Youth Board finally gave in; Yiannaki still to get 50% of his salary

Relevant News

The Administrative Board of the Cyprus Youth Board (ONEK) finally decided on Wednesday that disgraced former volunteerism commissioner Yiannis Yiannaki will remain suspended until the trial of his case. However, due to his possible recourse to Justice in case his whole salary stopped and following legal consultations, it was finally decided that he would still receive 50% of his salary, meaning 1,100 euros, even though he faces five forgery charges.

Yiannaki, whose trial is scheduled for October 5 but the legal proceedings could last for over a year, has been finally forced into retirement.

He had stepped down as commissioner last year amidst a police investigation ordered by the Auditor-General.

Evidence had emerged that he manipulated his high school diploma grades and included a fake college degree on his CV.
