Young man dies in motorcycle accident, 2023’s ninth road victim so far

Relevant News

A motorcycle accident in Nicosia on Sunday took the life of a 26-year-old man who is 2023’s ninth road victim so far. That is, three people lose their lives in collisions per month, traffic police said.

Last year, there were six deaths from road accidents by March 23 while on the corresponding date in 2021 there were just two. But this was because restrictive measures were in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Police did not give out the name of the latest road victim who is a Greek Cypriot. He had collided with a double cab vehicle allegedly driven by an elderly man.

The collision took place around 15:00 in the afternoon on a Nicosia-Palehori road. The motorcyclist was seriously injured in the collision and was taken by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital where he died a few hours later.
