Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air is launching flights between Larnaca and Yerevan on June 1.

The news was posted on the airline’s Facebook page as well as that of Zvartnots International Airport, Armenia’s main international airport.

Flights will be carried out twice a week.

Maria Kouroupi, Hermes Airports’ senior manager for aviation development, marketing and communications said the launch of the flights was another positive development for Cyprus’ airports.

“As Hermes Airports, our objective is to open up channels with new markets for Cyprus, in cooperation with other tourism stakeholders and taking into consideration the market trends,” she said.

With 70 airlines currently serving Larnaca and Paphos airports, linking Cyprus with 120 destinations in 40 countries,  the country’s connectivity is better than ever, Kouroupi noted.

“However our objective is to boost it further with new routes with all the significant benefits that this entails for Cyprus tourism and our economy,” she added.
