Cabinet will on Wednesday discuss a €2000 first installment as compensation following Sunday’s whirlwind in Ayious Trimithias which left a a trail of destruction it its wake.
The overall damage to property is estimated at €1.4m, according to an assessment by the Interior Ministry.
On a message on Twitter, Interior Minister Constantinos Petrides gave a breakdown of the damage from the whirlwind on private property in Ayious Trimithias and Paliometoho as follows: 165 houses, 3 agricultural warehouses, 2 companies, 4 factories. Total damage €1.424 m.
Many of the properties are insured. A final decision on compensation will be decided on the basis of socio-economic criteria.
