Wearing protective face masks by junior school students could be mandatory

Relevant News

Wearing protective face masks by junior school students in the fourth, fifth and sixth grade could be mandatory in the new school year, Philenews reported on Friday.

The issue is under review by the government with insiders saying Education Ministry officers will discuss it with organised parents next week.

Organised parents have said they will listen the Minsitry’s proposals and will also table their own for discussion. It is not clear what their stand on the mandatory mask issue is.

Ministry sources said there are concerns whether the use of a mask should be mandatory for the higher-level students.

However, if the possibility of compulsory use of a mask by children inside school premises is ruled out, it should be taken for granted that last year’s policy will apply. That is, the use of a mask will be highly recommended.
