Heavy rain is falling on the Nicosia-Larnaca highway, near Alambra and Pera Chorio and drivers are being urged to be particularly careful.
Police said that the right lane on the highway heading towards Limassol is closed because of an accident which occurred at 2.40 pm when a vehicle slammed into the barrier and was immobilised.
It said that there is heavy rain along the highway, visibility is low and the road slippery. Vehicles are moving very slowly near Lymbia because of reduced visibility, and there is heavy traffic, it added.
Drivers are urged to drive slowly, keep a safe distance from other cars, switch on their lights and follow police directions near the accident site.
