Unsettled weather continues

A low press system is affecting the area and Sunday will see more scattered showers, particularly in the afternoon. More snowfall in possible in the higher mountain peaks.

Roads are slippery, section of the Paphos-Limassol highway us still closed  while roads to Troodos are open only the vehicles with four wheel drive and those equipped with snow chains.

Weather forecast

Sunday will start off partly cloudy with possible isolated rain becoming gradually mainly cloudy with scattered showers and or thunderstorms. There will be snowfall in the mountains.

Temperatures will be 14 C inland, around 17 C on the coast and 8 C in the mountains.

Tonight will be partly cloudy and more scattered showers are possible.  Temperatures will be 4 C inland, around 8 C on the coast and 0 C
in the mountains.

Monday will be partly cloudy and isolated showers are possible. There may snow or sleet in the higher mountain peaks.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly fine with increased cloud at intervals.

Temperatures will edge up on Monday and again on Tuesday remaining at the same levels on Wednesday which is slightly above average for the time of year.

At the time of issue of the early morning weather bulletin there was 53 cm of snow on Troodos Square.

Road update

The two lanes of the Paphos-Limassol highway from the Pissouri to the Avdimou exit remain closed because of rockfalls and traffic is being is diverted via the old Paphos-Limassol road.

In Paphos because of flooded streams, rock slides and problems with the road surface the following roads remain closed:

  • Ayios Nicolaos-Pera Vasa at Tselefos Bridge
  • Kelokedara-Amargeti- Nata at Ziripilli Bridge
  • Salamiou-Galataria
  • Ayios Nicolaos-Mandria
  • Episkopi-Nata

The Ayios Nicolaos-Kamanaria  and Kelokedara-Filousa roads are open but dangerous because of road slides.

In the Limassol district roads to Troodos are open only to four wheel drive cars and those equipped with snow chains.

Because of the rain roads are slippery on the remaining roads and drivers are urged to be careful, drive slowly and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
