Two 25 year old men are under arrest after a police operation during which they discovered 2. 479 kilos of cannabis.
Police said that acting on information they had placed a house in Nicosia under surveillance. At around 9.45 pm on Tuesday night the first suspect was stopped after he exited the house to climb onto a motorbike. He was seen throwing a bag on to the ground, while the second 25 year old slammed the door shut to prevent police from entering.
The bag was found to contain 1.091 kilos of cannabis. There was another 1.376 grams of cannabis on the bike. Anti narcotics officers entered the house and found 11 grams of cannabis, precision scales and two flares.
Both men were arrested for illegal possession of cannabis with intent to supply and illegal possession of explosives.
Police investigations continue.
