Relevant News

Authorities are still looking for a 25-year-old Turkish man in connection with the premeditated murder case of a 35-year-old Ukrainian woman whose body was found in a Yermasoyia, Limassol, apartment early on Sunday.

At the same time, police have arrested the female friend of the woman who was looking for her and she is now facing charges of “living off the profits of prostitution and sex trafficking”.

The victim who had fled the war in Ukraine and was in Cyprus for a year now was found half-naked, bound and gagged on the ground of the Limassol apartment.

A few hours earlier she is believed to have met the suspect Erkan Alkan – an asylum seeker from Turkey – and had sexual intercourse with him, according to Philenews.

Authorities have released the photo of the suspect along with information on the official police website and the exit points of the divided island, including the crossing points.

The Ukrainian friend of the strangled woman seems to have been the one to arrange the fatal meeting.

On-site examinations indicate that the victim and the wanted man fought with each other as blood stains were found on the ground.

A bag with plastic cable strings and the suspect’s watch were also found at the scene.

According to the same information, the appointment was arranged by the victim’s arrested friend who also managed a specific application on her mobile phone. The appointment was set for 20.00 on Saturday night for three hours and for the amount of €350.

Whoever has any information that can help locate the man, please contact the citizen’s line on 1460 or their nearest police station.
