Tourist arrivals from the UKĀ in the first nine months of 2018 totalled 1,295,740, up by 5.7% compared to the same period in 2017, helping to make up for a drop in tourism from Russia, which fell by 4.7% (773,641 compared to 812,187 in 2017).
Total arrivals of tourists between January-September 2018 increased by 7.9%, however tourist revenue increased only by 2.3%.
The average tourist spentĀ ā¬700.21 during their time in Cyprus in the period, while in 2017 an average tourist would spendĀ ā¬738.49.
British tourists spent the most. It is estimated that in August the Cypriot economy receivedĀ ā¬910.8 from each Briton who visited Cyprus.
Russians were in second place withĀ ā¬762.8 per capita expenditure. However, the amount was ā¬300 less than in 2017, when Russians were in first place.
Per capita tourist expenditure in Cyprus was highest in 2013, when an average tourist would spendĀ ā¬868.2. That year, Russians spentĀ ā¬1,042 per capita.
Revenue from other markets decreased
Tourism expenditure from citizens of Germany and Sweden also decreased. In 2014, an average German tourist would spendĀ ā¬836, however the amount dropped to ā¬785 in 2016.
Swedes spent an average ofĀ ā¬685.7 in 2010, however the amount dropped toĀ Ā ā¬582 in 2017.
