The Police in Agia Napa arrested six third-country nationals who were seen in the yard of the Agia Napa Church lying on benches. According to the Police, they were homeless and were begging for money without the proper means to survive.
Following investigations, it was ascertained that five of them were asylum seekers, while the sixth one was illegally in Cyprus, since his request for political asylum had been rejected.
All six of them have been remanded in custody at the Agia Napa Police Station and are expected to appear before the Famagusta District Court today.
