After six months of renovation work, the new and improved Syntagma Square has opened to the public, Limassol Municipality announced on Friday.
The revamp cost around €480,000 excluding VAT.
The renovation works included:
- Paving
- Rainfall collection system
- Landscaping and installation of irrigation system
- Outdoor seating areas
- Facilities for the disabled
- Lighting
- Equipment
The works were initially expected to begin in November 2018 and end April 2019, but the project was delayed after the discovery of antiquities found in the area the project had to be delayed to September 2019.
Limassol Municipality said the upgrade was important for the city and its citizens. “The square can now be used as a meeting point for all citizens resulting in the development of social relationships and activities.
