Some modifications to suspected Libya arms cargo carrying plane in Paphos detected

Relevant News

Some modifications to the Paphos-grounded plane suspected of being used in carrying forbidden arms cargo to Libya have been detected by FBI and UN experts, Philenews reported on Wednesday.

But it it uncertain whether these modifications are of substance or not, insiders also said.

The 10 FBI arms experts, along with the rest of the team which includes Cyprus police members, carried out an all-day inspection on Tuesday.

They have opened a sealed hangar at the coastal town’s Airport to inspect the mystery aircraft thought to be a T-Bird.

The plane, which was registered with Serbian authorities as a non-commercial aircraft, traveled to Jordan in June 2019.

Despite having filed a flight plan to Libya, reports said orders were given for parts to be removed and the plane ended up flying to Larnaca in mid-July.

It was moved to Paphos airport within hours and parked in a private company warehouse for safekeeping.

A report based on the findings of the experts will be drafted and sent to the United Nations which is the body that imposed the arms embargo on Libya.
