Police operation against illegal work in Limassol and Paphos

Police booked 12 third country nationals in Limassol and Paphos as part of an operation yesterday into illegal and undeclared work and illegal residence in the Republic. Nine employers were also charged.

Another four third country nationals were found to be in the Republic illegally and have been detained.

In Paphos police and immigration officials checked 21 employers, 10 third country nationals, 22 EU citizens and 23 Cypriots.

Six of the third country nationals were found to be working illegally and were arrested. They were charged in writing and released as they were found to be in Cyprus legally. Their five employers were charged with using illegal workers.

Another third country national was found to be in the Republic illegally and has been detained.

In Limassol, officers checked four employers, nine third country nationals, four EU citizens and five Cypriots. The nine third country nationals were found to be working illegally and were arrested. Six were charged in writing and released as they are in Cyprus legally while the remaining three are in custody as they have been found to be here illegally. One of the three is also under investigation for using a forged document.
