Police arrested early on Monday a 24-year-old man from Liopetri in connection with an attempted murder against a 34-year-old woman from the same village.
Specifically, around nine in the evening on Sunday two hunting rifle shots were fired at the woman, who is pregnant, as she was sitting on her veranda with friends and family.
The 34-year-old was not seriously injured from the pellets and her condition is described as stable and out of danger, police said. The two had apparently an affair which was recently ended.
Police also said the suspect will appear later on Monday before Famagusta district court for a remand order.
And that investigations are ongoing.
