The countdown for the opening of the Park of Colors in Paphos, an ambitious project that cost nearly 4 million euros, has begun since the work of the last two years is almost completed.

Phileleftheros daily visited the impressive park recording the environmental and social upgrade of a huge area, which until recently had been neglected.

The 32,000 square meter area hosts hundreds of new trees, a botanical garden, squares, a playground, a cafeteria, an exhibition area, and an information office. Visitors will be able to participate in various sports activities with tennis and basketball courts, a small football pitch, a skateboarding area, and a 3-6m climbing wall.

Paphos Mayor Phedon Phedonos said the park will open the moment the cafeteria within operates. The cafeteria’s operation will become subject to tenders shortly, he added.

This specific action is a prerequisite so as to have a continuous movement of citizens in the area and, thus, avoid the risk of vandalism or theft. The municipality already pays for security services now that the park is set to operate and the budget is substantial, he added.
