Paphos airport awarded for services for people with disabilities

Paphos Airport  has been named “Europe’s Most Accessible Airport” for people with disabilities and reduced mobility at the  14th ACI Europe (Airports International Council) Annual Awards ceremony held in Brussels, Hermes Airports  — which operates Cypruss two airports has announced.

At the same time, Hermes Airports’ Senior Manager of Human Resources   Natasa Iacovides, was highly commended by ACI Europe in the HR Excellence category.

The Annual General Assembly of ACI Europe brings together representatives from all European airports as well as leading executives of the aviation industry.

With regards to the “Europe’s Most Accessible Airport” award, the ACI jury acknowledged Hermes’ holistic approach to its services offered for people with disabilities and reduced mobility, such as the lower height machines “BorderXpress” for the automatic border control, the installation of lower height pay machines for the parking areas, the possibility of using automatic electronic gates (E-gates) and the establishment of a management and monitoring system with the participation of people with disabilities and reduced mobility which assesses the offered services to PRM passengers.

Receiving the award on behalf of Hermes Airports,  Hermes CEO  Eleni Kaloyirou said that she felt very honoured for the distinction. She noted that the award follows on from last year’s win for Larnaca Airport.  Kaloyirou congratulated Sophie Christofidou, Terminal Services Manager of Hermes Airports, also responsible for facilities and services for people with reduced mobility, as well as the company S & L Airport Services Ltd, who are responsible for the delivery of the services to people with disabilities at both airports.

Kaloyirou also warmly congratulated Iacovides, Senior Manager of Human Resources at Hermes Airports, for being highly commended by ACI Europe. As she said, we are committed to continually supporting the efforts of the Human Resources Department in maintaining a high level of corporate culture and promoting Hermes Airports as an employer of choice”.
