Paphos district court has handed down fines totaling €1980 to five individuals who broke the stay at home decree.
Under the decree, police can issue out of court fines of €300 but also has the discretionary power to take a case to court which can hand down a fine of up to €3000 and / or six months prison.
Police said that four individuals were each fined €400 and the fifth was fined €380.
The five appeared before court yesterday which ordered the immediate payment of the fines.
All had broken the stay at home decree as they did not have an ID with them nor had they obtained permission to leave the house.
