The Health Ministry has clarified that although exercise is permitted outdoors in groups of a maximum of 10 people, team games are not.
In a written statement, the ministry said that based on its decree of May 20, group or individual exercise is permitted in open areas, provided groups do not exceed 10 people and the ministry’s and the Cyprus Sports Organisation‘s guidelines are adhered to.
Exercise is permitted in outdoor sports facilities such as futsal and basketball courts and football fields in order to improve physical condition and skills with no physical contact, but team games are prohibited.
Also permitted is the operation of outdoor swimming pools, with a physical presence of a maximum of 10 people, again in line with provisions of the decree.
The use of changing rooms and/or indoor gyms and /or any other indoor sports or related facilities is prohibited.
The prohibition on indoor sports facilities remains in place except where stipulated by the Cyprus Sports Organisation and only for high-performance athletes.
