The School Committee of Limassol undertook the creation of a playground for children with special needs, in order to create a space where they can play freely without feeling discriminated from other children.
The playground was created in the Limassol city center next to the Lanitio Sports Center playground, providing easy access to vehicles and people with mobility issues.
According to the School Committee’s president Dinos Ellinas, the Committee had considered it their responsibility to create a new playground alongside the initial one since handicapped children have equal rights and should be able to be active in all places.
Additionally, a multiple activity park was created in the same area, allowing children of up to 12 years of age to exercise and spend numerous productive hours carrying out activities.
The playground and multiple activity park are within the Lanitio Sports Center area and can be accessed from 8am until 10pm.
