The government is expected to announce new measures to contain the spread of coronavirus, philenews reports citing sources.
It said these were discussed by a meeting of the ministerial committee on Covid-19 that was chaired by President Nicos Anastasiades this morning and will announced by Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou later today.
According to philenews they provide for tougher penalties for those who violate the stay at home decree and tougher rules to obtain permission to leave the house as an exception.
Earlier today, the Health Minister berated members of the public for failing to heed social distancing rules while police have booked hundreds for breaking the decree.
