New itineraries for migration flows

Relevant News

Networks in the non-government-controlled areas are finding new ways to overcome the obstacles set by the Republic of Cyprus. According to information provided by the Authorities, migrants now leave Turkey in boats and come to the shores of Morphou, from where they cross into the government-controlled areas.

The new itinerary is known to the Interior Ministry which has readjusted its plans to stop these migration flows, at the time when a draft bill is being promoted in Parliament to hire 300 special contract officers with their duties being to guard the Green Line.

The issue was yesterday discussed at the House Legal Committee where it was pointed out that currently there are 2,700 migrants at Pournara reception center and Cyprus is under asphyxiating pressure.
