Municipalities invited to apply for free Wi-Fi

Relevant News

On March 17, 2020, at 2 pm Cyprus time the European Commission will launch the final round of applications for WiFi4EU.

Applications are open to EU communities and municipalities and the deadline for submission of interest is Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at 6 pm Cypriot time.

Authorities can claim 947 vouchers worth €15,000 each — one per municipality — that can be used to cover the equipment and installation costs of Wi-Fi hotspots in public spaces like municipality buildings, public libraries, museums, public parks and squares.

Registered municipalities and communities should submit their applications through the WiFi4EU platform once it goes live on March 17, 2020, at 2 pm Cyprus time.

The beneficiaries will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis, while ensuring that all Member States can benefit from a minimum amount of 15 vouchers. There is no maximum limit on the number of vouchers awarded to each member state.
