More tourists visited Cyprus last year, and they were big spenders too

Relevant News

A much higher number of tourists visited Cyprus last year compared to coronavirus-hit 2020 but what is remarkable is their big spending, Philenews reports citing official statistics.

Specifically, those visiting the Mediterranean island in October spent more than those in October 2019 which was a record year for Cyprus as far as tourism goes.

The increase in tourism revenue last October is largely due to the annual increase in visits in the same month, considering that this was the best month in terms of arrivals, surpassing those of July and August.

Arrivals last October amounted to 391,638 and this marks an increase of 288.6%, compared to October 2020 and a decrease of only 10.3% compared to October 2019.

Strengthened by the rise of arrivals, revenue from tourism in the same month amounted to €310.2 million compared to €77.4 million in October 2020, recording an increase of 300.8%.

A small increase, specifically 3.6%, is recorded in relation to revenue from tourism in October 2019, which had amounted to 299.4 million euros.
