The Met Office is forecasting more rain today while a thunderstorm warning is in force until 5 pm but the weather will improve late in the afternoon as the low pressure affecting the area begins to recede.
In its early morning weather bulletin the Met Office said that Friday will be partly cloudy and at intervals mainly cloudy. Local rain and isolated thunderstorms are forecast, the latter possibly accompanied by hail and strong winds.
Temperatures today will rise to 27 C inland, around 25 C on the coasts and around 15 C in the mountains.
Tonight will see increased cloud at intervals while later there may be patchy fog and low cloud. Temperatures will fall to 17 C inland and on the southwest and north coasts, around 18 C on the remaining coasts and around 10 C in the mountains.
Saturday will see increased high cloud at intervals while in the afternoon clouds that develop may lead to isolated rain and possible thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains.
Sunday will be mainly fine to start but clouds that gather gradually are expected to lead to isolated rain or thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains and inland. At night there may be isolated rain, mainly near the coast.
Monday will be partly cloudy and at intervals mainly cloudy and scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecast.
Temperatures will edge up on Saturday remaining at the same levels on Sunday, above average for the time of year while on Monday they will drop slightly to close to average for the time of year.
