Maria Koliou says TEPAK decision for only vaccinated students very strict

Maria Koliou, member of the Scientific Advisory Committee believes that the decision of the senate of the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) to only allow vaccinated and Covid recovering students to attend lessons in-person in September, is very strict.

Speaking at the Third Program of the state broadcaster, Kiliou said that at present stage satisfactory protection from the virus could be achieved with two rapid tests per week. At the same time, she added, emphasis should be placed on various actions aiming to convince students to get vaccinated.

Regarding health professions, Maria Koliou said that obligatory vaccination is necessary due to high level of the virus’s transmission in hospitals.

Additionally, Maria Koliou expressed a view in favor of a third, boosting dose of the vaccine for certain groups of people, underlining that it would offer them better cover.
