Limassol: Three arrested, another sought for house burglary

Two men and a woman, all Russian nationals, are under arrest after they were caught leaving a house in Ayios Tychonas, Limassol that has just been burgled, the Cyprus News Agency reports. A man also from Russia,  is wanted in connection with the same case.

Police said that the incident occurred a little after 9 pm on Sunday when the alarm went off in the house. The owner of the house is abroad but a private security guard who went to the scene saw two people exiting the garden. He called on them to stop but they ran off, leaving behind them a bag. A woman who was sitting in a parked rental car, also drove off when spotted by the guard.

Police were called to the scene who found the two men near the area. The rental car was spotted, but drove off at speed and disappeared when they tried to cut it off. It was later found abandoned nearby.

Investigations showed that jewllery and alcohol valued at 2,825 euro had been stolen.

The two suspects were taken to Limassol CID where they were recognised by the security guard and arrested.

A warrant was issued for the woman driver who was arrested later.  Police are also looking for a fourth persons who was seen in the area.

Citing police sources, the Cyprus News Agency said that the suspects may be part of a gang that had come from abroad.
