A 70 year old man owes his life to conscientious lifeguards who clocked in to work 30 minutes early this morning.
According to a Facebook post by a Limassol lifeguard unit, the man was in danger of drowning in the sea near the GSO athletic centre.
Lifeguards brought the man to shore unconscious, initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation and with the use of external unfiltered oxygen, he was revived after several attempts.
The man was taken by ambulance to the Limassol General Hospital.
The incident occurred at 10 am. Lifeguards start work at 10.30 am but were at their post half an hour earlier.
