Cyprus Casinos “C2”, the first licensed casino in the Republic of Cyprus, has welcomed more than 175,000 individual guests and 13,000 registered members of the C2 Rewards Club loyalty programme since it opened its doors to the public on June 28, thus achieving the goals set by Melco Group, the company said on Thursday.

Cyprus Casinos hosted a series of festivities on Tuesday and Wednesday marking the official opening of the casino and celebrating the successful operation of the past three months.

At a special ceremony on Tuesday attended by the Minister of Finance, the Mayor of Limassol and the business community Craig Ballantyne, Property President of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos, said that C2 had become a must-see destination for locals and tourists alike.

“The three months of operation of C2 were successful and the results exceeded our expectations,” he noted. He also thanked the community, involved stakeholders and the Cyprus government for their support so far.

Addressing the ceremony on behalf of the government, Finance Minister Harris Georgiades referred to the important income the state will have from this project and expressed the hope that the inauguration of the main item of the project, City of Dreams Mediterranean resort, will take place in the next two to three year.

Limassol Mayor Nicos Nicolaides wished Melco every success saying that C2 is the first major step towards the implementation of Melco’s main project, the establishment of Europe’s biggest integrated casino resort, “City of Dreams Mediterranean”, scheduled to open its doors in 2021.  Limassol is the business and financial centre of Cyprus, he said, and the city is ready to welcome such an investment.

On Wednesday, C2 welcomed the public with a series of festivities and surprises. Guests had the opportunity to win cash prizes and gifts amidst the bounty of the Columbia Bistro food, drinks and other surprises throughout the celebration.

Located at 271 Franklin Roosevelt Avenue in Zakaki, Limassol, Cyprus Casinos “C2” operates not only in accordance with Cyprus Legislation and Regulations, but also follows Melco’s industry-leading professional standards which focus on Responsible Gaming.
