The Audit Service has begun investigation into possible disciplinary offences for a number of civil servants that carry out businesses with companies in the private sector. According to the findings, approximately 5,000 employees in the public and wider public sector also participate in private companies either as shareholders or as directors and secretaries.
Furthermore, most of them participate in the structure of private companies without having secured prior permit by the Finance or Defense (for military personnel) Minister, in fact violating the law.
The Audit Service has informed the relevant officials of the situation and the secretary general of the Finance Ministry issued a relevant memo asking the employees to secure the relevant permits.
