Police carried out a total of 1982 breathalyser tests on drivers over the long weekend of whom 155 were booked for driving over the influence.
Moreover, another 1351 drivers were charged with speeding, 512 for failing to wear a seat belt and 146 for using a mobile phone while driving.
In addition, police were called in to offer road assistance in 113 cases.
