A woman suspected of having contracted coronavirus has tested negative, the Health Ministry said on Monday evening.
The woman, a Chinese national permanent resident of Cyprus, had arrived at Larnaca Hospital earlier today from China via Moscow.
The airline had informed authorities that she had symptoms similar to coronavirus, prompting the ministry to activate its health protocols.
The woman was taken to a special ward at Nicosia Hospital while other passengers who had sat near her on the airplane and the crew underwent a medical examination at the airport as a precaution.
Late on Monday evening, it emerged that the woman was free of the virus with the ministry announcing that it had been notified by the Institute of Neurology and Genetics that all the samples taken from the woman patient had tested negative.
“The patient, whose clinical condition has improved, will remain hospitalised for precautionary reasons,” the ministry added.
Moreover, the small number of passengers who had travelled on the specific flight and were found during medical examinations at Larnaca Airport to be asymptomatic were given instructions to self-monitor over the next 14 days.
