Foreign Ministry issues travel advice for Italy, South Korea

Relevant News

The Foreign Ministry  has issued travel advice for Italy and South Korea, due to the outbreak of coronavirus or COVID-19.

The Ministry notes that most cases in Italy are in Lombardy and Veneto, and advises people to avoid traveling in these areas.

Cypriot citizens who are visiting or staying in Italy are asked to be vigilant, follow the local and international media for updates, follow the instructions of the competent authorities in Italy and take individual protection measures, in line with the suggestions of Italian and international health authorities.

In case of emergency, Cypriots may register their contacts details at www.oikade.gov.cy or contact the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Italy:
Ambasciata della Repubblica di Cipro
Via Ludovisi 35
00187 Roma
Tel: +39 06 80 88 365-7-9
Fax: +39 06 80 88 338
E-mail: [email protected]

Travel advice also entered into force for South Korea, with the Foreign Ministry urging Cypriots to avoid traveling to Gyeongsang province, the city of Daegu in the Cheongdo county, in the south-eastern part of the country.

The Republic of Cyprus has no diplomatic or consular representation on the ground in South Korea and the Embassy of Cyprus in the Peoples Republic of China is also accredited in the Republic of Korea. The ability of the Republic of Cyprus to provide immediate consular assistance to Cypriots in the country is therefore particularly limited, the announcement notes.
