Foreign Minister travels to Geneva for UN Human Rights Council meeting

Cyprus Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides flies to Geneva on Sunday to participate in the high-level meeting of the 43rd Session of the UN Human Rights Council.

Christodoulides is scheduled to address the plenary on Tuesdsay, and on the sidelines of the meeting he will hjold talks with UN Secretary General António Guterres. He will also meet Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, on Tuesday.

During his stay in Geneva, he will also meet with UN High Commissioner for Human Right Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, and Director General of the UN Office in Geneva and Secretary General of the Conference on Disarmament Tatiana Valovaya.

As well as Director General of the International Organisation for Migration António Vitorino, Secretary General of the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation Yousef Al Othaimeen, and President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer.

In addition, he will open an exhibition of photographs with Brazilian Minister of Human Rights, Family and Women Damares Alves, on the occasion of World Rare Diseases Day.
