The fire near the Ayia Fyla shooting range in Limassol was fully contained late on Thursday after four hours of fighting and not before threatening inhabited areas.
The fire, raging in the area between the villages of Ayia Fyla and Palodia, was reported to authorities at around 4pm.
Assisting the Fire Service with manpower, vehicles and firefighting planes was the forestry department, as well as the disaster response unit (Emak).
The fire initially burned through bushland, but a few hours later the flames were reportedly spreading close to residential areas.
