Relevant News

Illegal street hawkers and traffic were among the issues discussed by Larnaca’s Tourism Board (ETAP) and the town’s Police chief Christakis Papademetriou.

According to a press release issued by Larnaca Tourism Board, the meeting was attended by the ETAP Chairman, Dinos Lefkaritis, and members of the Board, who discussed problems that affect the tourism industry of the Larnaca District and which fall within the competence of the Police.

More specifically, crucial issues brought into the spotlight included illegal street trading, disturbances at the beach, as well as the chaotic traffic, road and parking conditions that prevail at Larnaca Airport, but also at Makarios and Tassos Mitsopoulos avenues, which are frequently used by tourists.

Larnaca Police Director said that Police, being fully aware of the specific problems, is set to increase patrols. Regarding Makarios avenue, both parties agreed that the Department of Public Works should implement relevant road regulations, focusing on more permanent solutions.

Additionally, ETAP suggested that bicycle patrols should be more frequent in the vast tourist region of Larnaca, a request that is currently under study.
