Authorities are advising drivers to be vigilant on the road network, as heavy showers have caused flooding in a number of areas, but mostly the Famagusta district.
The Protaras Avenue and the Ayia Napa-Ayia Thekla remained closed for traffic due to flooding, while many roads in the Ayia Napa and Paralimni area have become dangerously waterlogged following continued rain over the past 24 hours.
There was thick fog over the Larnaca mountainous region this morning, limiting visibility in addition to the storms. The Skarinou-Lefkara, Lefkara-Vavatsinia and Vavatsinia-Ayioi Vavatsinias routes, are the most severely affected provincial roads.
On Troodos, the Karvounas-Troodos, Platres-Troodos and Prodromos-Troodos roads are only open for cars equipped with snow chains or 4×4 vehicles, as snowfalls continue.
Police are advising caution as all roads are slippery, calling on drivers to maintain lower speeds, keep a distance from vehicles ahead and their hazard lights on, if necessary.
